Memory Care:

At MeadowView Memory Care Village, our entire focus is to provide person-centered care - care tailored to the activities and changing needs of each resident. We focus on the opportunities and assist persons to retain their skills and self-esteem, in an effort to enhance their quality of life. We promote autonomy to make each day fulfilling.

Our Mission:
MeadowView is dedicated to a multidisciplinary program in care for persons with dementia and related diseases. Our goal is to help residents realize their highest level of fulfillment in an atmosphere of respect, dignity, and person-centered care.

Focus on Family:
We emphasize living each day within an interactive community. Our partnership with the family is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing support and education to our families, and work diligently to assist families in discovering meaningful and enjoyable activities to do with their loved ones when they visit. Family involvement is encouraged, and MeadowView offers a complimentary meal to each family weekly.

A Partners in Care Support Group meets monthly, and an Advisory Board guides MeadowView in continuing to provide quality care for our community needs. We strive to build a total picture of our residents by incorporating Life Stories and Memory Boxes into our care. We recognize the value of inter-generational learning with our Circle of Life program which works with volunteers from area schools and churches. Religious services are offered by our Chaplain and volunteers from the community. These programs build on our philosophy of care to respect life at every stage.

Montessori Based Programming
MeadowView emphasizes a social, active, and diverse activity program, keeping activities front and center. People with dementia live in the moment and our job is to give them as many good moments as we can. We do not focus on problems and deficits, but rather, ask what strengths and abilities remain. Simple things like making a bed, preparing a dinner table, sorting and matching socks, or doing laundry constitute meaningful activities for our residents.

Throughout all areas of MeadowView, Montessori-based programs exist, where residents enjoy free choices of caregiver directed “lessons” to stimulate their cognitive, physical, and social being. “Lessons”, or activities, are reminiscent of the past, respectful of the lifestyles and occupations of residents, and focus mainly on the areas of practical life, sensorial, and cultural studies. Lessons are purposeful, give residents a social role, and provide stimulation to keep residents engaged, no matter their stage of dementia. Exercise, music, art, and pet therapies enhance the entire wellness program.

Snoezelen
The concept of Snoezelen is utilized for residents who require a multi-sensory retreat from busier activity areas. Derived from the Dutch works “to doze” and “to sniff”, residents can relax one on one with a trained caregiver, family member, or volunteer in a small, private room. Our multisensory room is filled with visual, auditory, olfactory and tactile stimulation, where residents enjoy being in a comfortable chair, with a caring person to listen, and provide feelings of safety and security.

Innovative Design
Our philosophy of care drove our design. Every detail of MeadowView Memory Care Village is planned and designed to assist a person with memory impairment. The goal in design is to ease the stress and frustration that can occur with memory impairment, recognizing the need to provide a safe and secure sense of “home”. Multi-sensory areas and familiar experiences evoke pleasant memories and provide gentle reminders of the activities of the day.

Two distinct neighborhoods ,comprised of 20 private apartments, surround the Village. Neighborhoods contain color and thematic cues, whirlpool baths, laundry room, quiet living rooms, a sun room and old fashioned ice cream parlor, and many unique interior design features. All 56 units are unfurnished and offer memory boxes at each entryway, specific color selections, large windows, and private baths. Some apartments may accommodate a couple.

Memory Garden

A beautiful enclosed outdoor memory garden allows for outdoor activities and helps to combat the effects of sundowning (increased confusion, agitation, depression, anxiety). With a clear wayfinding circular path, bird feeding station, raised flower bed and other unique features, residents may enjoy daily outdoor exercise, moon walks, flowers and gardening.
